Wanna Ride? includes a cross pendant that was designed and crafted by Scotty for this specific painting. It is numbers matched to the edition.
This piece says motorcycle without all the chrome. The jacket the woman is wearing is Scotty’s first motorcycle jacket circa 1969, worn on his first Harley, a 1959 Panhead. Who is under that helmet you ask? Well that would be up to you to decide. If you look closely you can see a glass of wine being poured in the reflection of the helmet. If at first you thought she was suiting up for an evening motorcycle ride, you would be mistaken…Wanna Ride?
This “nightrider” so to speak, instantly probes the audience: “who is under that helmet?” The reflection of the wine elegantly poured into her glass clues us in on the woman’s intentions and also brings the title of the piece into new light. The leather is so perfectly rendered that it is near impossible to not touch the motorcycle painting to make sure it’s not real. The motorcycle artwork enthusiast no longer has to turn to chrome and Harley Davidson for his wall art. This screams motorcycle art without having to show even the tiniest bit of chrome. Not so subtle, but then again, this artist doesn’t seem to have a subtle bone in his body.
