Fifth and Ariel
A tribute to both the main street in downtown San Diego and his youngest daughter Ariel, Fifth and Ariel charms the viewer with its hyper real color and flirty flair. Significantly tamer than most of his work, Scotty shows his “softer” side while giving homage to sunny San Diego and his personal classic 61.
Fifth and Ariel was commissioned by the city of San Diego for promoting a downtown car show in the famed Gaslamp district. The car in this piece is one of Scotty’s personal vehicles, a 1961 Corvette, better known as the 61 Ghost (click to see the build). Sculpted by Scotty, he used to car to pick up his now wife of over 30 years from Canada when they first got married. The girl in the piece is Scotty’s youngest daughter, Ariel. Both the car and the painting both were showcased at the event. I think you can see why.Scotty is the premier automobile artist in the fine art world. His car art done in his unique #TastefullyEdgy style is truly iconic. If you were to see the artist painting, you would instantly recognize his undeniable talent to create #SexyCool scenes out of brushes and canvas.
